WHAT DO YOU NEED

**** 1 An inexpensive USB microphone. AROUND $35-50.....
Headset combos don't work.

**** 2 A device for playing back "play along" tunes.
COMPUTER SPEAKERS WON'T CUT IT
*Could be a phone with a Bluetooth extension speaker. 
*A boombox that takes a USB stick.
*An old school stereo system in the room.

**** 3 A laptop or desktop computer.....Pads/phones don't work very well and I won't guarantee a good experience.

**** 4 The ZOOM desktop client....FREE. Not the browser version....(which is why you need a laptop or desktop computer.

My advice would be to download and install the ZOOM client, play around with it, and use it to video yourself. If this works I can help your with the best settings.

**** 5 A separate webcam (might not be necessary with a recent laptop)

**** 6 Maybe an inexpensive set of headphones. This prevents an ECHO effect sometimes experienced when using speakers.

YOU WILL NEED A GOOD INTERNET CONNECTION. IF YOU CAN STREAM MOVIES WITHOUT INTERRUPTION THEN THAT'S USUALLY GOOD ENOUGH.

It may seem like a bit of extra work to participate in online lessons, but given the scarcity of competent, experienced, professional guitar teachers giving Face to Face or Online lessons, I think you'll be pleased with the results that you will be able to achieve with my help.

My main focus is on students 12 years and up.

I teach all levels....from absolute beginner to advanced players.

I tend to specialize in mature age adults.

NEVER TOO OLD
I teach a lot of adults who have found it’s far easier than they thought using my methods.

But lot of adults suffer from the “I’m too old” syndrome….I’m here to tell you that adults make the great students. They’re more focused than kids, and understand that if you put in a bit of work you will be rewarded.

They do have a few slight physical problems because of years of work injuries, RSIs, and old sporting injuries.
I take it slowly, and at a pace your hand feels comfortable with.

A 30minute lesson costs $50.

More advanced students can take an hour if needed. $80

Lessons are paid for in 4 week blocks by direct deposit.

* I am a professional musician and teacher with over 40+ years’ experience. I have taught 1000s of students in that time.

DON'T SETTLE FOR SUB STANDARD GUITAR TUITION

I recently took on a new student who had been learning at one of the “other” guitar schools in the local area.

After 12 months learning at this school with a pretty website full of stock pictures.... the student could only play 3 chords, 1 song, and some bits and pieces of tunes played on one finger, with non existent timing.

In that time the student had 3 teachers, all as equally clueless, who couldn't work out what to do and started the student from the beginning again.

The great tragedy in all of this is that the student often blames themselves...thinking they have no talent......instead of blaming the incompetence of the teacher.

UNFORTUNATELY THIS IS COMMON

In the last 6 months I have taken on 4 students from a different well known music school, (who promises the earth) who had been learning at this establishment for a least 6 months, and could not play a single thing for me on their 1st lesson.

NOT A SINGLE THING, NOT A CHORD, SONG, RIFF, OR INTRO.

I have students from 4 other local guitar schools who have all experienced the same atrocious tuition.

Theses schools all seem to have the following common teaching deficiencies.

FOR EXAMPLE

* One line of scribbled out intro to a random tune. This lazy, contemptuous approach is entertainment, not tuition.

* No lesson structure......They ask the student what they would like to learn that lesson. No methodology to progress the student towards a goal.

* Students are moved on to another tune even if they haven't mastered the chords or timing skills needed to play it well.

* Parents are “not allowed” or discouraged from sitting in on the child’s lessons.

* No timing concepts. Without timing you can never play with other people or play along with recordings.

* Students can't even follow a simple chord chart, let alone play the chords properly.

* Students have had multiple teachers.

* Part time teachers who don't care about results because in a few months they'll be gone.

* Teachers who don't insist that student practice regularly and accurately

***AND THIS IS HAPPENING AT ESTABLISHED GUITAR SCHOOLS.***

One can only imagine what people are learning from amateurs teaching from their homes, giving group lessons in a bus. or doing home visits are like.

Cheap is not cheap if you don't get a result for your money, time, and enthusiasm.

* WHEN DO I TEACH
Most days from 12.00 Australian Eastern Standard Time...Until 8.00pm AEST



* WHAT IF I HAVE NO TALENT….WHAT HAPPENS IF I CAN’T DO IT ?
Firstly we all have an inbuilt ability for music...it just takes time, patience and the right advice. 

On the 1st lesson we work out if there are any issues that would prevent you from learning effectively.
For example:
* An unplayable instrument
* A hand injury
* Substandard internet connection.
* Computer and equipment issues
* Lack of time to practice.
IF ANY ONE OF THESE BECOMES AN ISSUE THEN I WON'T TAKE YOU ON

* AM I TOO OLD ?

I have adult students aged from 30-80 and they are all doing well. Check out my reviews to see what other older learners have experienced.

You pay in 4 week lots, direct debit

* WHAT IF I MISS A LESSON?

You are booking my time, so no refunds or make up lessons.

* HOW MUCH PRACTICE SHOULD I DO ?

When you first start....15 minutes a day, 4-5 days a week is enough. Your hands need a couple of days rest when you first start.

Once you have been playing about a month you should start to practice about 30 minutes a day 5 days a week. This will give you the kind of progress that will keep you encouraged to keep learning.

* HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO PLAY A SONG ?

People usually start playing easy songs by the 3rd lesson. I have heaps of MODERN hand picked tunes to give you a good time.

* WHAT SHOULD I BUY TO START WITH ?

You need to give me a call about this.....I can save you a lot of money and help you get a good playable instrument to start on. 

* YOUR LESSONS SEEM REALLY EXPENSIVE, HOW COME?

Because I consistently prove that my methods get objective, verifiable results...something NONE of my opposition seem to be able to do.

Read some of my guitar lesson horror stories in my reviews and face book pages and you'll understand why I feel I'm am one of the best teachers anywhere.  

A lesson costs less than a pack of cigarettes, less than most peoples corporate coffee bill for the week......and certainly less than a couple of cocktails after work.

* Professional teachers charge a fee based on their qualifications, skill, experience....and the costs associated with having a professional place of business. They are career teachers and are in it for the long term. Most are working professional level performers as well. They are appreciative of your business and a pleased to see you and hear about your weekly musical adventures.

An amateur teaching from home will often not have a Police and Working With Children Check, public liability insurance, and often doesn't have professional qualifications or experience.

I WAS ONCE IN A ROCK BAND are not qualifications to teach well unfortunately.

They often only teach for a short periods of time while they need pocket money at Uni or until they find full time work. Very often their students are left high and dry with little warning when "something better" comes along.
